Tammana Cement & Hardware Store

Tammana Cement & Hardware Store is right on Madhya Marg Station Road. It’s a very busy spot because of the traffic coming and going from the station. There is usually a layer of fine cement dust on the front counter no matter how many times we wipe it down, but that’s just how it is in this business. We have stacks of cement bags piled high in the back and rows of hardware tools lining the walls. The smell of metal and building materials is always in the air. We spend most of our time helping people find the right size of bolt or weighing out supplies for a small construction job. The phone rings a lot, and there is usually a truck parked out front waiting to be loaded or unloaded. It can get pretty loud with the horns honking on the road, so we often have to speak up to be heard. We don't have a fancy office; it’s just a small desk tucked behind the main display area where we keep the ledger and the receipts. Most of our customers are local builders or people from the neighborhood trying to fix something at home. We’ve been at this location for a good while, so we know the regulars by name. It’s hard work, especially when the weather is hot and the bags feel extra heavy, but we just get through the day.
