It’s dark outside when we open up. Sector 45 is quiet then. We move the crates around 2nd Cross. Number 163 is just a small spot, really. We've been here a while. People come for their morning packets. Sometimes the delivery truck is late and we just sit and wait. It’s part of the job. The fridge hums all day. We keep the floor clean but it's hard with so many boots walking in. Kids come in for sweets after school. We know most of the neighbors by name. It’s not fancy, just a dairy shop where things happen the same way every day. The shelves are mostly milk, curd, and some paneer. We don't have a big sign or anything, just the gate. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to worry about the cooling. That's just how it is. My father started this and now I'm here. We don't do much marketing, just keep the doors open. If you walk past the 2nd Cross, you'll see the crates stacked up. We try to keep things simple. Dealing with cows and farmers means our schedule is tied to theirs. It's a lot of lifting and pouring. By evening, the stock is mostly gone and we start thinking about tomorrow. It's a steady life here in this part of the sector. We close the shutters when the street lights come on. It's a long day but we like the routine of the neighborhood.
