Gagan Sweets & Dairy Products

You can find us in Sector 15 at shop number 9. The day starts really early for us, usually before the sun is even up, because that’s when the milk arrives. We spend the first few hours of the morning boiling it down in big vats to make mawa or just getting the fresh packets ready for the neighborhood. The shop smells like cardamom and sugar most of the time, which isn't a bad way to spend your day. We have glass counters filled with different kinds of barfi and laddoos, and I spend a lot of time wiping the fingerprints off the glass. People from all over Sector 15 stop by, some just for a glass of lassi and others to pick up boxes of sweets for a party. It gets a bit crowded in the evenings when the office crowd is heading home. Sometimes we run out of the popular stuff before the day is over, and we have to tell people to come back tomorrow. We don't use any fancy machines for everything; a lot of it is still done by hand with big stirring spoons. The floor behind the counter can get a bit slippery if we aren't careful with the milk splashes. We just try to keep things fresh and keep the customers happy without making a big deal out of it. It is just our little dairy spot.
