Astan Sewing Machine

Astan Sewing Machine is over in Sector 23, specifically at Cheap Booth No 7 C. It’s a small shop, which is pretty common for these kinds of booths in Chandigarh. We’ve got sewing machines crammed into almost every corner, some for sale and many more that people have brought in because they aren't working right. The space is tight, so we have to be organized, though it might not look like it to someone walking in for the first time. There’s usually a bit of oil on the counters and a lot of thread scraps on the floor by the end of the day. We don’t have any fancy signs or big displays. Most of the people who come here are locals from the neighborhood who have known us for years. It’s a simple setup where we just sit and work on the machines. Sometimes the light isn't the best, so we use little desk lamps to see the tiny parts. It’s not a corporate environment at all. We just wear our regular clothes and talk to whoever walks in. We don’t have a website or do any big advertising. Word of mouth is usually how people find out about the booth. The days are long, but it’s fine because we like working with our hands. It's just a small, practical place in Sector 23 where we keep busy with the needles and motors.
