Aggarwal Trading Co. is located on Mikh Road, right in front of Sarangpur in the Dhanas Marble Market. Being in a stone market means everything is usually covered in a thin layer of white dust. We’ve been here for a good while, and the place has its own rhythm. We spend most of the day talking to people who are looking for materials for their floors or walls. It’s not a glamorous job, standing around in the yard or the shop, but it’s what we do. We don't have a polished sales pitch. We just show the slabs and tell people what they are. The road outside can get pretty bumpy with all the heavy lorries carrying stone back and forth. Our office is just a small room where we keep the accounts and escape the sun for a bit. We don't have many employees, just a few of us who have been together for years. We know the other traders on the road, and sometimes we grab a snack from the local stalls together. It’s a very practical kind of life. We don't spend money on big signs or advertisements. People know we’re across from Sarangpur, and they come by when they’re ready to buy. We just try to keep the stock moving and make sure the measurements are right before things get loaded up onto the trucks. It's dusty but it's our livelihood.
