Smarate Brick Udyog

Our business, Smarate Brick Udyog, is situated in the village of Bhauri. It’s under the Niyamtabad post and Chandauli tehsil. It’s a quiet rural spot where everyone basically knows what everyone else is doing. We’ve got our brick kilns set up on the edge of the village. It’s a lot of work to keep the fires going at the right temperature. We use the local earth and water to mix everything up. My family and some of the neighbors help out during the busy season. We don't have an office with computers or anything like that. Usually, we just sit under the shade of a tree to talk about the day's tasks. The roads out here aren't always the best, so getting the heavy trucks in and out can be a challenge after a big rain. We’ve got piles of bricks everywhere, some drying and some already fired. We don't spend money on advertising or fancy signs. Most folks just know we are here and come by when they are planning to build a new wall or a shed. It’s a very hands-on kind of life. We get up when the sun comes up and we stop when it gets too dark to see. It’s just honest, hard work making something useful out of the ground we stand on. That’s really all there is to it. We keep doing it because it is what we know.
