Arshad Bricks

Out here in Jasuri Village, things move at their own pace. Arshad Bricks is tucked away in the Tehsil and District of Chandauli. We are quite close to the local government schools, so we hear the children shouting and playing throughout the day. The work here is physical and involves a lot of dirt and sun. Making bricks isn't a clean job, and we all end up covered in dust by the time the sun goes down. The landscape around Chandauli is mostly open, and our yard is filled with stacks of finished bricks waiting to go out. We don't have a big corporate sign or a reception desk. Usually, you will find someone out in the yard or sitting near the entrance. The weather really dictates how much we can get done in a week. If it rains, things slow down a lot, but during the dry months, we are busy from dawn until dusk. It is a local operation and most of the people working here live nearby in the village. We have seen the schools change over the years while we stayed right here in the same spot. It’s a basic life, but it’s honest work that keeps us going. We just focus on getting the stacks ready and making sure the trucks can get in and out of the Jasuri Village roads without too much trouble. It takes a lot of coordination to keep the orders moving and sometimes we are working well into the dark with flashlights to finish a load. It is just the way it has always been for us here.
