R.K. Bricks

If you head down toward the Old Chaibasa area, right near where the aerodrome is, you’ll find us at Shop No-820. R.K. Bricks has been tucked away here for quite some time now. Being so close to the airstrip, we get used to the sound of the planes taking off, though it still makes it hard to hear each other talk sometimes during the day. The yard is usually full of stacks waiting to go out to various building sites. We don’t do anything too fancy here. It’s just us, the soil, and the water. My brother and a few cousins help out most days, and we’ve got a couple of regular guys who handle the heavy loading and unloading. It’s physical work, and by the end of the day, everyone is usually covered in a layer of red dust. We close up when the sun starts to dip, but if a customer shows up late, we often stay open to help them load their trolley. The neighborhood around here is pretty quiet otherwise. We know most of the other shop owners on this stretch. We don't have a website or a marketing team telling us what to say to people. We just know how to make a brick that won't just fall apart. We spend our time checking the inventory and making sure the piles are straight so they don’t tip over in the wind. It’s a simple life at 820, but it keeps us all busy.
