Krishna Bricks

If you walk down Station Road in Chaibasa, you will find Krishna Bricks. We are located in the Singhbhum area, and as the name suggests, we are not far from the railway tracks. You can often hear the trains whistling and the ground shaking a bit when the heavy goods carriages go past. Making bricks is hard work and it involves a lot of heat and mud. We spend most of our time out in the open, tending to the kilns and making sure the bricks are drying properly. It’s a local business through and through. We don't have a corporate office with air conditioning; we have the dust and the sun and the smell of the earth. People around Chaibasa know us because we’ve been here for quite some time. We sell to builders and folks just trying to put up a wall or a small house. Every brick we make is a bit of work from our own hands. Sometimes the weather doesn't play nice and we have to cover everything up quickly. It is just part of the rhythm of life on Station Road. We don’t use any complicated technology, just the old ways that still work for us today. The days are long, but there is a certain satisfaction in seeing a fresh pile of bricks ready to go out to a customer. We just keep doing what we know how to do every morning.
