War Lab Jeans

War Lab Jeans is right in the middle of Karol Bagh. If you’ve ever been to this part of Delhi, you know how crowded and loud it can get. We operate out of a space here that is almost always filled to the ceiling with rolls of denim and boxes of finished jeans. It’s a chaotic environment, but we have our own way of organizing things that seems to work for us. The smell of new fabric is the first thing you notice when you walk in. We spend a lot of time checking the stitching and making sure the sizes are labeled correctly before they go out. There are sewing machines going almost all the time, so you have to talk a bit louder to be heard. Karol Bagh is the kind of place where business happens on every corner, and we’re just one of many shops and workshops trying to get our orders out on time. The tea guy comes by twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a short break to sit on the stacks of fabric and talk. It’s not a fancy life, and the hours are often long, especially during the festival seasons when everyone wants new clothes. We just keep working through the piles of blue and black denim, making sure the zippers work and the pockets are straight. It’s a busy, dusty, and honest way to make a living in the city.
