Working out of a basement in Darya Ganj has its own vibe. Sepia Advertising Pvt Ltd is located at 4852/24 on Ansari Road. You have to walk down the steps to find us. It stays a bit cooler down here than it does out on the street, which is a relief in May. The walls are thick, and you can hear the muffled sounds of the busy market above. We have desks pushed up against the walls and lots of folders stacked in piles. Darya Ganj is full of history and books, and sometimes it feels like that energy rubs off on us. We spend a lot of time on our computers, but there’s always paper everywhere. The lighting is artificial since we don't get much natural sun, but we've gotten used to it. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when everyone is in at the same time. We have an old electric kettle that makes a loud clicking sound when it’s done. People often pop in from Ansari Road just to ask for directions because the numbering around here is confusing. We don't have a fancy sign or a lobby. It’s just a workspace where we get things done. Sometimes we order tea from the stall around the corner and drink it out of those small glass cups. It’s a basic, functional office in a very old part of Delhi, and it suits the way we work together.
