Down here in Village Dharahara, things move at a bit of a different pace. Medrec Hospital And Research Centre Private Limited is situated on land belonging to Rambabu Singh, who is Raghunath Singh’s son. People in the village and around PO Kazisharay usually know the family name. It’s not like those huge hospitals you see in the middle of a big city. We’re more of a local fixture. The building itself is sturdy and does what it needs to do. Most of our days are spent seeing people from the nearby areas who don’t want to travel all the way into the city for every little thing. We have the research part too, which is a bit more behind the scenes. It can get dusty around here when the weather is dry, but we try to keep the inside as tidy as possible. The staff mostly comes from the surrounding villages, so we all know each other. It’s a bit of a community effort keeping the place going. We don’t have a marketing team or anyone to write fancy letters. We just focus on the patients and the daily rounds. It’s a lot of hard work, especially when the power goes out or when it rains heavy, but we’ve been here long enough to handle it.
