Sai Exports is located in the basement of N1 in Kalkaji. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze down here, especially when we have a lot of samples or boxes waiting to be sent out. The lighting isn't the best, but we’ve got enough lamps to see what we’re doing. We’ve been here for a good few years now. Most of our day is spent talking to suppliers or checking on shipping schedules. It gets a bit noisy when the traffic picks up outside, but you stop noticing it after a while. We don't have a big reception area or anyone to greet you at the door. Usually, it's just me or one of the boys sorting through the mail. We handle mostly exports, trying to find markets for things that people need. It’s not glamorous work, and there’s a lot of waiting around for replies from people in different time zones. We drink a lot of tea to stay awake during those late-night calls. The basement stays cool in the summer, which is a plus, though it gets a bit damp when it rains heavily. We don’t put much stock in being some kind of high-level enterprise, we just want to make sure the boxes get to where they're supposed to go. It’s a small, local setup and we like it that way. No big overheads, just us doing our thing every day until the work is finally finished.
