We are over at No. D-128/a in Gali No. 11, which people around here call Azad Gali. It’s near Bengali Sweets and that other narrow path they call Chorri Wali Gali in Jagjeet Nagar. The area is very old and the streets are quite narrow, so getting large things in and out can be a bit of a puzzle. We do surgical work here, which means a lot of metal and tools. The shop has that smell of oil and metal that you find in workshops. It’s a noisy place sometimes because of the tools we use. We aren't trying to look like a modern office. There are benches with tools and stacks of finished items waiting to go out. Usmanpur is a busy part of town and we’ve been part of it for a long time. People know the "Raj" name because we’ve been in this specific gali for ages. We mostly focus on making sure the items are made correctly. There’s a lot of grinding and polishing going on throughout the day. We have a few workers who have been with us for years. They know the machines better than anyone. We don’t spend money on fancy signs. We just have our address on the door and we keep the machines running. It’s a lot of hard work in a small space, but it’s what we do. It's simple, honest work that keeps us busy from morning till evening.
