Our office is right in the middle of the chaos in Paharganj at 234 Desh Bandhu Gupta Road. If you know the area, you know it’s always crowded and the Vardhman Diamond Plaza stays busy from morning until late at night. Being so close to the police station means there is always something going on outside our window. We spend our days looking at screens, trying to figure out train schedules or finding a hotel room that isn’t overpriced for someone heading out on a trip. The phone rings a lot with people asking about bus timings or if their tickets are confirmed. It’s a small space and it gets a bit dusty with all the traffic on the main road, but we keep it going. We usually have maps pinned up and old brochures tucked into drawers. People walk in off the street tired from the heat, looking for a way to get to the mountains or down south. We aren't doing anything groundbreaking here, just sorting out travel plans so people can get where they need to go. Sometimes the computer system is slow and we have to tell people to come back in an hour. It’s just how it is in this part of town. We handle the bookings, take the payments, and hope the weather stays good for whoever is traveling that week. It’s a lot of talking and a lot of waiting for travel confirmations to come through.
