Our spot is in the basement of 2656 on Bank Street, right in the middle of Karol Bagh. If you know Delhi, you know how packed Bank Street gets with all the jewelry shops and the people visiting the big banks there. Being in a basement means we don't get much natural light, but it stays a bit cooler than the street level during the peak of summer. It is a bit of a maze getting down here sometimes because of all the stock and the narrow stairs. We have been working out of this Karol Bagh location for some time now. The noise from the market filters down a bit, but mostly it is just the sound of us typing away or talking to vendors on our mobile phones. There is always someone coming in or out with samples or documents. Space is tight, so every corner is filled with something important like ledger books or old files. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting lounge for visitors. If you visit, you just pull up a plastic chair and sit with us while we work. It’s a very practical way to run things. We spend our mornings sorting through export details and our afternoons checking on the local suppliers. It’s a lot of manual work and tracking things down. We drink a lot of chai from the stall just around the corner because it keeps the energy up when we have a long list of things to finish.
