You can find Ashok Lal Architect over at 2-B, Ram Kishore Rd in Civil Lines. This part of the city is a bit quieter than the rest, which is nice for the kind of work we do. The office is in an old building with high ceilings and big windows. We have a few drawing boards and some old computers that still work well enough. There’s always a lot of paper around—blueprints, sketches, and notes from old projects. We’ve been here for quite a while, so the walls are covered with photos of buildings we've worked on over the decades. It’s not a corporate office. It feels more like a workshop or a home. We don't wear suits unless we absolutely have to go to a formal meeting. Most days, we’re just in our shirtsleeves drinking coffee and arguing over where a wall should go. The garden outside is a bit overgrown, but it keeps the place cool in the summer. People stop by to talk about their houses or shops. We don't have a receptionist, so one of us usually just gets up to answer the door. It’s a slow and steady way of working. We don't rush things because mistakes are hard to fix once the concrete is poured. It’s a small team, and we’ve been together for many years. We just enjoy drawing and seeing things get built properly.
