Sc Brick Industry

Sc Brick Industry is located out in Silchar, specifically at Post Bagadahar Borjurai in the Tehsil. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here if you aren't from the area. The landscape is beautiful but the work is tough. We deal with the soil and the water every single day. The process of making bricks here is very traditional. We don't have the high-end machinery you might find in a big city. It’s mostly hands-on labor. The rain in Silchar can be a real problem for us. When the monsoon hits, everything slows down and we spend a lot of time covering the unbaked bricks with plastic sheets. My boots are always caked in mud. We are a small team, mostly people from the nearby villages. We know each other well and we work at a steady pace. There’s no big office, just a small structure where we keep the ledgers. People come by and we talk about the price of fuel or the latest news in the Tehsil. It’s a very grounded way of living. We don't promise anything other than a pile of bricks that will hold up a house. It’s dirty work and it doesn't pay a fortune, but it keeps us busy. When the day is done, the walk home is quiet and we are tired. We just focus on getting the bricks out of the kiln and into the trucks.
