You can find Cachar Steel Company over on Trunk Road in Silchar, right across from the All India Radio station. Being opposite the radio station makes it easy for everyone in the Cachar district to find us. We’ve been at this location for a long time now. The weather here in Silchar can be a bit of a challenge because it’s so humid, so we have to spend a lot of time making sure the steel doesn't get ruined by the damp air. It’s a lot of work keeping everything in good shape for our customers. Our yard is usually full of activity, with people coming in to pick up materials for their building projects. We are a small team, and everyone chips in where they are needed. There isn't really a hierarchy here; we all just do what needs to be done each morning. We don't have any fancy mission statements or marketing slogans. We just try to have what people need in stock so they don't have to wait. The office has an old fan that makes a lot of noise, but it’s better than sitting in the heat. We know most of the people who walk through our door, and we’ve seen their families grow up over the years. It’s a simple, honest business and we take things one day at a time.
