Gopal Medical And General Stores

Gopal Medical and General Stores is right on the Main Road here in Sonala. Most people around Buldhana know where we are because we’ve been standing on this corner for quite a while now. The shop isn't anything fancy to look at, just a regular place with shelves full of medicines and daily stuff people need for their houses. We open up pretty early in the morning when the street is still a bit quiet and the dust hasn't started flying around yet from the passing trucks. My brother and I usually take turns behind the wooden counter. It gets a bit crowded in the evenings when everyone is heading home from work and they remember they need soap or some tablets for a headache. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the stock piles up in the corners when the new deliveries come in. There is an old ceiling fan that makes a bit of noise but it keeps us cool enough during the summer months. People come in not just to buy things but sometimes they just want to ask about which cream is good for a skin rash or how to take their vitamins. We don’t have any big signs or bright lights, just the usual boards. It’s a simple life running a store in a place like this. We know almost everyone who walks through the door by their first name or at least we recognize their faces from the neighborhood.
