Panthers Institute

Panthers Institute is based over at C 217 in Noida Sector 49. It is a regular house in a residential area, so it feels more like a home than a school. We set up some classrooms inside with basic benches and whiteboards. It is nothing too fancy. We started this because we saw many kids in the neighborhood needing a place to go after their regular school hours. Sector 49 is usually quiet, but it gets a bit lively around here when classes start in the late afternoon. We have a small group of teachers who come in to help out. Most of our time is spent looking over math problems or explaining science chapters. The markers for the whiteboards always seem to run out at the worst time. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us managing the day-to-day things. Parents usually just walk in or give us a call to see if we have space. It is a very local operation. Sometimes the power goes out, which is just part of living in Noida, but we have some backup lights. We don't use any complicated teaching software. It is mostly just pen and paper and talking through the lessons until the student gets it. It feels good to see the kids from the nearby blocks doing better in their exams. We are just a small part of the community here in Sector 49.
