Chauhan Bricks

We run Chauhan Bricks out in Village Rasoolpur. It’s a bit of a drive out here in the Gulaothi Taluka, not far from the Shiv Mandir. The post office is in Anupshahr if you're looking for the mail address. It’s a wide-open area with a lot of red dirt and stacks of bricks everywhere you look. This is outdoor work, so we’re always at the mercy of the weather. If it rains, everything slows down. If it's sunny, we're out there moving stacks and checking the kilns. It’s a hard way to make a living but it’s what we know. My father started this and now my brothers and I keep it going. We don't have an office with a computer. We just have a small shed where we keep the register and some chairs. Most of our day is spent walking the grounds or talking to the drivers who come to pick up loads. The dust gets everywhere—in your hair, your clothes, and even your tea. It’s just part of the life here in Bulandshahr. We have a few workers who live nearby and they're like family to us. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know we're here near the temple. It’s a very simple, honest business. We make the bricks, we stack them, and we sell them. That’s all there is to it. We just keep working until the sun goes down every day.
