Government Higher Secondary School

Government Higher Secondary School in Khansahib is one of the main schools for this part of Budgam. It’s a government-run place, so it follows all the standard rules and regulations. The campus is actually quite large compared to some of the private schools, with a big gate and a large open area for the students. However, maintenance is always a bit of a struggle, and you can see some peeling paint and old furniture here and there. We have a lot of students coming from the nearby villages, some walking quite long distances to get here. The classrooms are filled with rows of wooden benches, and the blackboards are a bit grey from years of use. We have a staff room where the teachers gather to discuss the curriculum or the latest government circulars. It’s a very functional environment. We don't have air conditioning or modern heaters, so we just deal with the weather as it comes. During exam time, the whole place gets very quiet and serious. We focus on the state board exams because that’s what matters for the kids' future. It’s not a fancy school with lots of extracurriculars, just a place where the work gets done and the students get their certificates. It feels like a very traditional, state-funded institution where everyone follows the bell.
