Rahamat Stores

Rahamat Stores is right in the heart of Nichubazar, over in Ward Number 5 of Birbhum. It’s a busy little area with a lot of shops packed together. We’ve been here for quite some time, selling mostly everyday household items and some clothing bits too. It’s a narrow shop, but we’ve managed to fit a lot in there. You have to know where to look or just ask us if you can't find something. We aren't big on decoration. The walls are mostly covered in shelves and hangers. Birbhum can get very hot, so we usually have the fan going full blast while we wait for customers. We don't have a big marketing plan or a sales team. It’s just us behind the counter. We talk to the people who live nearby and try to stock what they like. Sometimes we get new things in and see if they sell. If they don't, we don't bring them back. It’s a simple way to run a business. We spend a lot of time chatting with the neighbors who pass by the front door. The market can be very loud, especially in the evenings when everyone is out doing their shopping. We like the energy of the place though. It feels like we are right in the middle of everything. We aren't fancy people, we just work hard and keep the store open six days a week, sometimes seven if things are busy.
