Bengal Stone Company

Down in the village of Pachami, things move a bit differently. We are based out of the Makdamnagar post office area in Md. Bazar, and it is a place where everyone knows everyone else. The stone business is what keeps this area going, and we are right in the middle of it. Our office is a small building that stays dusty because of the nearby quarries. You can hear the sounds of the work from a long way off. We don't have a big corporate structure. It’s just me and a couple of other guys handling the daily chores. We spend a lot of time on the phone or walking around the site to make sure everything is where it should be. The roads around here are rough, so we go through a lot of tires. We don't have a website or any fancy marketing stuff. Most of our work comes from people we have known for twenty years. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside and wait for it to come back on. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there, we just want to do our bit and go home to our families. It’s a simple life with a lot of heavy lifting. We deal with the heat and the dust every single day without complaining much. We have been doing this for a while and we plan to keep doing it.
