Opposite the Central Bank on Mandi Road. Sardar Bhagat Singh Ward is where we sit. The Mandi is always loud. Trucks coming and going all the time. Dust everywhere. We trade different goods. It depends on what’s in season. The bank across the street is a good landmark. People come by to talk or settle accounts. Our shop is number 98. It’s not a large space but we make it work. We have some shelves and a big table where we do the paperwork. The floor is concrete. It’s stayed that way for years. We get a lot of farmers coming in from the villages. They bring their stories and their crops. Sometimes the traffic on Mandi Road gets so bad nobody can move. We just sit out front and wait it out. It’s a community here. Everyone knows everyone else's business. We’ve seen the market change over the years. Some shops closed, others opened. We stayed. We don’t do much advertising. People just know where we are. If you’re at the Krishi Upaj, you can’t miss us. We keep the doors open even when it’s hot. A fan helps a bit. We just keep the books straight and make sure the deliveries happen when they are supposed to. It’s a living. We don't need fancy signs. The work we do keeps us busy enough throughout the whole year. We have a small corner where we keep the records in old files. Sometimes it takes a while to find things, but we always do.
