Mahavir Food & Spices

Mahavir Food & Spices is tucked away in Street No.2 of Rampura Basti, over in the Lalgarh area of Bikaner. The first thing you notice when you get close is the smell of the spices. We spend a lot of time grinding and packaging different things like chili powder, turmeric, and cumin. It’s a small operation, but we stay very busy. The machines are usually running for most of the day, making a steady humming sound. We’ve been in this part of Bikaner for many years. It’s a dusty neighborhood, but our shop is where we keep everything as clean as possible for the food items. We have sacks of raw spices piled up in the corners. The staff is mostly local people who have been with us for a long time. We don’t do much advertising; people just know where we are. Sometimes the spice dust makes everyone sneeze, but we are used to it by now. We focus on how the grind looks and making sure the packets are sealed right. Our workspace is simple with wooden tables and some old scales. We don’t have any high-tech gadgets, just the basic stuff that works. It’s a lot of manual labor, but it’s what we know how to do. Every day is pretty much the same routine. We usually close up when the sun goes down and head home to our families.
