Lahariya Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our group is called Lahariya Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited. We are based out of Dhani Devi’s place, she is the wife of Kalaram Kumhar. You can find us on Indra Colony Road in Bijapur, over in the Bali tehsil. It is mostly women here working together. We are all from the local farms around this area. We decided to start this company to help ourselves and our neighbors manage what we grow better. It isn't a big office building, just a place in the colony where we can meet up and talk about the crops. Sometimes we sit on the floor and go over the papers. It’s very informal. We grow different things depending on the season. Working together makes it a bit easier than doing it all alone. We handle the selling and the buying of seeds as a group. Everyone knows everyone else here, so it’s like a big family. Sometimes the kids are running around while we work. We don't have fancy computers or a big sign out front. People in Bijapur know where we are. We just want to make sure the farming life stays sustainable for our families. It’s hard work, and the weather doesn't always help, but we stay busy. It feels right to do things this way and keep the money in the community.
