Ayurvedic - Dr. Shahida A. Khatri

I’ve been running this place in Kutch for a long time now. Ayurvedic - Dr. Shahida A. Khatri is the name on the door. People come through here when they want something different from the usual pills you get at those big hospitals. It’s a pretty quiet spot most days. We use herbs and oils mostly. The clinic isn't very big but it does what it needs to do. I see a lot of the same local faces every week. Some people even travel from the next village over because they prefer the old ways of doing things. It gets very hot in Kutch during the summer months, so we try to keep the waiting area cool with a couple of old fans. I don’t keep a real strict schedule sometimes because life just happens, but I try to see everyone who walks in before the sun goes down. My desk is usually covered in jars and my own notes. I’ve spent many years learning about how these traditional methods help the body. It’s not magic, just working with nature. I started out small and I’ve kept it that way on purpose. Most folks find us just by asking their neighbors where to go. I don’t have a big flashing sign outside, just a small one. Sometimes I stay late if a patient comes in with a problem that takes a bit of time to talk through. I handle most of the medicines myself. It’s a lot of work but I like it.
