The janaseva kendra is right at Plot No-47 in Sastri Nagar, Unit-4. If you know where the SAIL office is, we are right in front of it. It’s a busy spot and people are always coming in and out. We handle a lot of the basic things people need help with, like forms and applications. It gets pretty crowded in here on Monday mornings, so it’s usually better to come later in the week. We’ve got a couple of computers and a scanner that works most of the time. The chairs in the waiting area aren't the most comfortable, but they do the job. We try to get through the line as fast as we can without making mistakes. It’s a lot of typing and checking details. Sometimes the internet goes slow and we all just have to wait. We don't have a big fancy sign, just the one over the door so you know you're in the right place. Most of the folks who come in are regulars from the neighborhood. We know a lot of them by name now. It’s just us here trying to keep things organized. The desk is always cluttered with pens and bits of paper. We don't have any corporate protocols. If you need something, you just come in and ask. It’s a simple operation. We just show up and do what needs doing every day. We usually close up once the sun goes down and the crowd thins out.
