Bapuji Nagar is always busy, especially around where we are on the 211St Floor. Maple Furniture Pvt. Ltd. has been here for a good while, handling all sorts of wood and boards. You can usually hear the sound of sanding or someone moving a heavy wardrobe around if you walk by. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, and sometimes getting a finished dining table back down is a real puzzle for two or three people. We don't have much of a lobby, just the space where we work and show what’s finished. The air usually smells like fresh cut wood or that strong scent of polish we use. Most days are just about measuring twice and hoping the delivery truck can find a spot to park on the street below. It’s a tight squeeze in this part of town, but we make it work. Customers come in with their own ideas, and we just see what we can do with the tools we have. It’s not a quiet job, there’s always a hammer going or a saw buzzing somewhere in the back. We keep our coffee mugs on a workbench that’s seen better days. That’s just how it is here. Sometimes the rain makes it hard to move things out, so we wait. We’ve got a lot of scraps left over every week, which we try to keep tidy but it’s a struggle. It’s just us doing what we know how to do.
