Orissa Tribal Empowerment Livelihood Programme

We are based out on Bazar Street in Kandhamal, working as part of the Orissa Tribal Empowerment Livelihood Programme. If you are looking for us, we are situated over with T Sujata Rani Rao and Sangeeta Traders. It is a local spot right in the heart of the market area, so there is always a lot of noise and movement outside. We spend our time working on things that help out with livelihoods around the tribal areas here. It is practical work, nothing too formal or tucked away in a big city office. Being on Bazar Street means we are close to the people we actually work with every day. Sometimes the shop next door gets really crowded, but that is just life in Kandhamal. We have our small space here where we keep our files and meet with folks from the community. It’s a very hands-on environment. We don't have a lot of fancy furniture or polished floors, just what we need to get the job done. People know where Sangeeta Traders is, so they usually find us without much trouble. We’ve been here in Orissa for a while, focusing on the tasks at hand. It is a lot of talking to people and trying to figure out the best way to move things forward. We prefer keeping things simple and direct. It works better for everyone involved when things are honest and down to earth like this.
