Divya Jyoti Charitable Trust

Out here in Dhenkanal, things move a bit slower than in the big cities. We are located at the Trupti Mayee Patra address in Kunjakanta. It is a local spot that most people in town know if they have lived here long enough. Divya Jyoti Charitable Trust is basically a few of us working out of a small space to help out where we can. We have been here in Orissa for years, and we know the families around the neighborhood. Sometimes people come by because they heard we had some extra supplies or just because they need someone to talk to about a problem. We do not have a big fancy office with air conditioning. Usually, we just have the windows open to let the air in, even if it gets a bit dusty. There are a lot of files on the shelves and maybe a few old chairs for visitors. We spend a lot of time walking around the local area too. It is not just about sitting behind a desk. We see a lot of different things happening in Dhenkanal, and we just try to be a part of the daily life here. Sometimes the rain makes the roads a bit messy, but we still open up every morning. It is a simple life and we are just glad to have a place where people can find us when they need to. The building is just a normal house converted into a workspace, so it has a very personal feel. We do not have big meetings, just regular chats over tea about what needs to be done next for the local folks.
