Umadevi Sanchi

Our shop Umadevi Sanchi is right here in Indrapuri. Most mornings start pretty early because the milk van comes before the sun is even fully up. This part of Bhopal has been our home for a long time. The neighborhood has changed quite a bit, with more houses and people moving in every year, but our daily routine stays mostly the same. We keep the milk, curd, and those little packets of buttermilk that everyone wants when it gets hot outside. Sometimes people stop by just to chat for a minute while they wait for their change. It gets a bit crowded in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work and remembers they forgot to buy bread or eggs. We try to keep the shelves stocked with the basics so nobody has to go too far. The shop isn't very big, but we make use of every inch of space we have. You can find us easily if you know the Indrapuri area well. It is just a simple place where we sell what people need for their kitchens. Sometimes the fridge makes a lot of noise, and we have to give it a little kick, but it keeps everything cold. Most of the faces that walk through the door are familiar by now. It feels good to be a part of the daily life around here. We just keep doing our work, making sure the crates are ready and the lights are on.
