The Hardware Hub

Our shop is situated at Shop No. 1/2 in the Ashirawad Apartment building, specifically in the Trilanga Gulmohar area. Being on the ground floor of an apartment complex is interesting because we see the same residents every day when they go to work or come back home. We mostly stock hardware items like screws, hammers, plumbing bits, and electrical supplies. The shop is quite narrow, so we have shelves going all the way up to the ceiling. I have to use a tall ladder to reach the stuff at the top, which can be a bit of a workout. It’s often a mess of metal parts and boxes, but I usually know exactly where everything is hidden. People from the apartments often come in when a tap is leaking or a light bulb has blown out. We spend a lot of time explaining how to fix basic things or looking for the right size of bolt for a repair. The street outside is lined with trees, so it stays a bit cooler here than in other parts of the city. We don't have a big sign or any bright lights. We just keep the door open and wait for the regulars to stop by. Sometimes we just sit on the stools outside and watch the traffic go by when it's slow. It’s a decent way to spend the day, helping neighbors out with their home projects. We enjoy being part of the local community here.
