Tani Ice Cream

Tani Ice Cream is over at No-B 27 in New Ashoka Garden. We are tucked behind the Indian Bank, so you have to look a little closely to find us if you are new to the neighborhood. Ashoka Garden is a nice enough area, mostly houses and some small shops. Our place is actually part of the residential block, so it feels very much like a local family business. We have the freezers in the front room and the supplies kept in the back. The humming of the cooling units is the background music of our lives. Because we are behind the bank, it’s a bit quieter than the main road, which we like. The neighbors often stop by for a chat while they are out doing their banking or grocery shopping. We keep the place clean, but it’s a working space, so there’s always a few crates or some packaging material sitting around. In the summer, the power cuts in Bhopal can be a bit of a worry, so we are always checking the backup systems to make sure nothing melts. We’ve got a small staff of local guys who know the streets well. It’s not a corporate environment at all, just a group of people working together in a small garage-style setup. We focus on the daily tasks, making sure the orders for the local vendors are packed and ready to go before the heat of the afternoon sets in for good.
