Jawaharlal Nehru Cancer Hospital

Up here on Idgah Hills, things feel a little different than the rest of the city. Jawaharlal Nehru Cancer Hospital has been sitting at P.B. No. 32 for quite a while now. The air feels a bit clearer on the hills, which is nice for the people staying with us. It’s a large facility, and it can be a bit intimidating when you first drive up the hill to get here. We have a lot of different wings and departments, but it’s all run by regular people who care about their jobs. It’s not a fancy place with modern art on the walls. It’s a place where work gets done. The floors are scrubbed clean every morning, and the smell of antiseptic is something you just get used to. We have patients who stay for a long time, so we try to make things as normal as possible for them. The mail comes to P.B. No. 32, and there’s always a stack of letters and packages for the folks inside. Our staff works long shifts, and you’ll often see them taking a quick break outside to look at the view from the hills. It’s a quiet, serious place, but there’s a lot of life in it too. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just open the doors every day and see who needs help. It’s a long journey for many, and we’re just here to help them through it.
