Gautam'S Designer Art Jewellery is right in the middle of Chowk Bazaar. If you’ve ever been to the bazaar, you know how crowded and loud it gets. Our shop is tucked in among all the other stalls and stores. It’s not a very big space, but we pack a lot into it. We spend most of our time looking at small details under bright lights. The bazaar has its own rhythm. In the mornings, it’s mostly just shopkeepers opening up and sweeping the front. By afternoon, the narrow lanes are full of people looking for all sorts of things. We’ve been here for quite some time now. The walls are lined with glass cases, and we try our best to keep them clean, though the dust from the street always finds its way in. It’s a family-run kind of vibe here. We talk to the neighbors every day and know most of the regulars who walk by. Sometimes we just sit and wait for someone to come in, and other times we are so busy we barely have time to drink tea. The work is delicate and takes a lot of patience. We don’t have a website or anything like that; we just rely on people seeing the sign and walking in. It’s a simple way to do business, but it’s how we’ve always done it in the bazaar. We stay here until the market closes up late at night.
