Chhappan Bhog is our little spot in the Hare Krishna Complex. We are at Shop No. 7, right by the No. 10 Stop in Arera Colony. It’s a lively area, and being near the bus stop means there are always people moving around. We spend most of our time in the kitchen or behind the glass counters. There is always the smell of frying or sugar syrup in the air here. We make a lot of different snacks and sweets throughout the day. Some people just pop in for a quick bite while waiting for their bus, while others come from across the colony to pick up boxes for their families. The shop isn't very big, so it can get a bit cramped when five or six people are inside at once. We’ve got a couple of small tables, but most people just stand or take their food to go. My hands are usually covered in flour or some kind of spice by noon. We don't have a fancy menu, just the things we know how to make well. The floor needs a lot of cleaning because of all the foot traffic, but we try to keep up with it. It’s hard work, standing on your feet all day, but it’s nice when someone tells us they liked the food. We’ve been at this shop for a while now, and it’s become our second home. We hope the smell of fresh food keeps people coming back.
