Cafe Indigo

Cafe Indigo is located right in the Kolar Castle building on Kolar Road, here in the Chunabhatti area of Bhopal. It’s a pretty recognizable spot because we are directly in front of the Kaali Mata temple. On festival days, the whole street gets packed with people, and you can hear the bells and music from inside the cafe. It’s a lively part of Bhopal to be in. We’ve got a mix of families coming from the temple and younger people from the nearby colonies. The space inside isn’t huge, but we’ve tried to make it comfortable with the chairs we have. Sometimes the fans are a bit loud, but they keep the place cool enough during the summer months. We spend a lot of time just chatting with the neighbors and making sure the floors stay clean, which is a job when the dust kicks up outside. People usually find us when they’re looking for a break from the Kolar Road traffic. It’s not some high-end place with polished floors and uniforms. It’s just us running the show, sometimes running a bit late or forgetting to refill the napkins on time. We like the neighborhood feel of Chunabhatti. There’s a certain routine to the day here, from the early morning temple visitors to the evening crowd. It’s just a plain, local spot where you can sit down for a while without anyone bothering you.
