Banarsi Pan has been sitting here in Shahapura for quite some time. We specialize in making various types of pan for the people of Bhopal. It's a small shop, almost like a kiosk, where we spend our days preparing the betel leaves with different ingredients. We use the recipes that have been around forever, nothing too modern or strange. We have to be careful with the leaves and keep them fresh throughout the day, which can be tricky in the heat. Our spot in the 462011 area is quite busy, so there's always someone coming or going. Sometimes we sell a few other small things like tobacco or mouth fresheners, but the pan is why people come here. It’s a messy job sometimes, with all the juices and pastes, but we’re used to it. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know we are here. Most of our customers have been coming to us for years, and they usually want the same thing every time. We just focus on getting the flavors right for whoever walks up to the counter. It’s not a big corporate thing, just a local guy running a shop and trying to make a living in the city. We enjoy the banter with the regulars who come by every single day.
