R P General Store

You can find R P General Store right at the Mangla Chowk on Pur Road. It is one of those places where you can grab just about anything you forgot to buy at the big market. We have snacks, soap, milk, and all the little household things that people need at the last minute. Being at Mangla Chowk means we see a lot of traffic. The dust from Pur Road usually finds its way inside, so I am constantly wiping down the biscuit packets and the soda bottles. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and we have been here for a good amount of time. The shelves go all the way to the ceiling, so I have to use a small ladder to reach the stuff on the top. It gets really busy in the mornings when people are heading to work and again in the evening when they are coming home. I know which neighbors like which brand of tea or who is going to come in for a cold drink after a long shift. We don't have a computer system or anything fancy; just a ledger and a cash drawer. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it works for us. The noise from the chowk is constant, but after a while, you just stop hearing it.
