Saileela Suitings

Our shop is part of the Saileela Group, and you’ll find us at number 158 in the New Cloth Market on Pur Road. It’s a dusty part of the city because of all the traffic and the construction work that always seems to be happening nearby. Inside, it’s a different world with stacks and stacks of suiting materials piled up to the ceiling. We spend a lot of our time moving these heavy rolls around, which is quite a workout. The air smells like fresh fabric and the old wooden shelves we use. We’ve been at this location for a good while, so we’ve seen the market grow and change. Most days, it’s just us sitting on the stools, waiting for the wholesalers or local tailors to come by. We don't use any fancy computer systems for everything; we still write down a lot of our notes in big ledgers with blue ink. When someone comes in looking for a specific shade of grey or blue for a suit, we have to pull down several different rolls to show them the texture. It takes time, but that’s just how we do things here. We share a pot of tea in the afternoons and chat about the weather or how the road outside needs fixing. It’s a regular job in a busy market, and we like it that way.
