Hari Om Genral Store

We are right in the middle of Sarafa Bazar in the Gulmandi area. It’s a very old part of town and the streets are quite narrow. Being a general store here means we have to make use of every inch of space we have. We hang things from the ceiling and stack boxes all the way to the top. You can find almost anything for your kitchen or daily chores here. The market is always loud with people shouting and bikes squeezing past each other. It’s a lot of energy every single day. We open the shutters early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. Most of our customers are regulars who have been coming to us for a long time. They know where everything is, sometimes better than we do. We don't have any fancy displays, just the goods piled up where they fit. It’s a bit chaotic, but we have our own system. The wooden counter is smooth from years of use. We spend a lot of time weighing out goods and bagging them up. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but we don’t mind. Sometimes we run out of space and have to leave things on the sidewalk for a bit. That's just how it is in Gulmandi. We’ve been part of this market for a long time at Hari Om Genral Store and it feels like we belong here with all the noise. We just keep the shop going.
