G K N Traders

Our shop and office is at 4 G 19 in the Bapu Nagar New Housing Board area. This is a very local neighborhood, so we see the same faces every day. Being in a housing board area means the streets are laid out in a bit of a grid, but it still gets crowded with vendors and people going about their business. We deal with trading, so there are always boxes coming in and going out. The front area is where we meet people, and the back is for storage. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze, especially when a new shipment arrives. We have to shuffle things around just to make a path to the back door. The walls are lined with shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. We use a rickety old ladder to reach the top ones, which always feels a bit risky but we’re used to it. The floor is concrete and shows the wear and tear of all the crates being dragged across it over the years. We usually have the radio playing in the background, mostly just for some noise while we work. Lunch is usually something bought from the nearby stalls or whatever we’ve brought from home. We don’t have much time for breaks, so we eat while we talk about what needs to be finished before the day ends. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living in a busy part of town.
