Chauhan General Store

Being over here in Ward No.8, Chauhan General Store has become a regular stop for folks in the Bhilwara part of Bilaspur. We’re tucked in right near the Balaji Temple, which is a good landmark if you’re trying to find us for the first time. The shop isn't massive, but we try to keep the shelves stocked with the things people actually need every day. You know how it is in a small place, everyone knows everyone. We’ve seen kids grow up coming in for snacks and now they’re coming in for household stuff of their own. It’s a lot of long hours, opening early and staying till the evening, but it’s what we do. The dust from the road comes in sometimes, and we’re always wiping down the counters. We don't have a computer system for everything; a lot of it is just written down or kept in our heads. If we don’t have something, we usually tell people when it’ll be on the next delivery. It’s just a basic general store. Nothing flashy. We talk to the neighbors, hear the news about the town, and keep the doors open. Having the temple so close means there's always someone walking by. We like the spot we have here. It feels like we are part of the street. If you need something small or just forgot an item at the bigger market, we’re right here in Ward 8.
