Bhagwati Lal Teli

Out here in the Old Dhanmandi Kasara Market in Bhilwara, things stay pretty busy from early morning. My name is Bhagwati Lal Teli and this is my spot. If you’ve ever walked through the market, you know it’s loud and there’s always someone hauling sacks or shouting out prices. I’ve been in this exact location for a long time now. The shop is tucked away among many others, and it gets a bit cramped when we have a lot of stock coming in. We handle things the old-fashioned way, mostly just dealing with people face-to-face. There isn't much of a system other than knowing where everything is kept on the shelves. Sometimes it takes a minute to find a specific item if it’s buried in the back, but we always get there. The walls have gotten a bit stained over the years and the door creaks when you open it wide. I spend a lot of time sitting on the wooden bench outside when the shop is quiet, just watching the bikes go by in the narrow lanes. It’s a lot of work keeping up with the demands of the market, but it’s what I know. We don’t do anything fancy or use big words to describe the business. It’s just a place where you can get what you need and have a quick chat before moving on with your day. We try to keep things moving as best as we can without making a fuss about it. That’s just life here.
