Vallabhi Organic Cotton Producer Company Limited

Our group is based out in Viradi village. If you know Vallabhipur, you know it's mostly about the fields. We work with cotton here. Not just any cotton, but the kind grown without all those extra chemicals. It's a lot of work for the farmers in this part of Bhavnagar. We started this because we wanted a way for the local growers to handle things themselves. Most mornings start early before the sun gets too hot. You'll see us talking about the crop quality or how the last harvest went. Cotton is a tricky plant. It needs the right timing. We spend a lot of time in the dirt. It's not a clean job, but it’s what we do. Our office is simple, right there in the village. Sometimes the power goes out, or the roads get muddy when it rains, but that's just life here. We aren't a big city corporation. We're just people from the area trying to get the cotton sorted and sent out. Everyone knows everyone else around here. We talk about seeds and soil more than anything else. It feels right to be doing something that belongs to the land. We don't use fancy words for it. It's just farming and getting the cotton ready for the market. Vallabhi Organic Cotton Producer Company Limited is just us farmers working together. We try to help each other out when the harvest is heavy or the prices are low, because that is how things are done in a village like ours.
