Down at Plot No. 2572, you’ll find R. L. Kalthia Ship Breaking Private Limited. We are tucked away in the Swashray area, just behind the Jain Derasar. It’s right across from Patel Chamber and not far from Diamond Chowk. This place is all about metal and hard work. There is a lot of heavy lifting and the sound of torches cutting through iron most of the day. It isn't a clean job, and none of us look very tidy by the end of a shift. We’ve got the yard organized in our own way, even if it looks like a mess of scrap to anyone else. Being near the temple gives a bit of a quiet contrast to the noise we make. Diamond Chowk is usually the landmark we tell people to look for. The sun hits the yard pretty hard, so we drink a lot of water and keep moving. We don't have a big corporate lobby. Our office is just a small spot where we keep the logs and take a break when we can. It’s a rough environment but it’s what we know.
