We've been here at Jawahar Chowk for quite a long time now. If you know the Bank of India across the street, that is where we are. It gets busy around here, especially in the mornings when the market picks up and everyone is moving about. Most days we are just busy checking scales or fixing a small tool that someone brought in because it wasn't reading right. People stop by often, sometimes just to ask a quick question about a weight set or to see what kind of measuring tools we have on the shelf. We keep things pretty simple. The shop isn't fancy, but it gets the job done. My hands are usually a bit dusty from handling the equipment, but that is just part of the work. Sometimes the tea guy comes around and we take a short break, then it is back to work. We see a lot of local farmers and small shopkeepers who need their stuff verified. It is important work because nobody wants to be off by even a few grams. We try to keep a good stock of what people actually use around Talaja. Sometimes the weather gets really hot and we just leave the front door wide open to catch a breeze. It’s a straightforward life here. We don't have a huge team, just a few of us making sure everything is accurate. If you are walking past the bank, you can usually see us working through the window.
